The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China calls for accelerating the construction of world-class enterprises. In February 2022, General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over the 24th meeting of the Central Committee for Deepening Overall Reform, which reviewed and approved the 'Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of World-Class Enterprises.' The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) has thoroughly implemented the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee, continuously promoting the construction of world-class enterprises and achieving positive results—China Energy Investment Corporation (CHN Energy) is a typical example.

China Energy Investment Corporation is one of the first batch of demonstration enterprises for building world-class enterprises. The company was formed through the restructuring of the former Shenhua Group and the former China Guodian Corporation. At the time of the restructuring in November 2017, there was widespread external concern about whether CHN Energy could achieve smooth integration, efficient management, and a green transformation; whether it could realize the expected goals of integrated coal and power development and improved corporate efficiency; and whether it could take the lead in enhancing core competitiveness and building a world-class enterprise, providing a reference for others. Despite numerous challenges, based on recent interviews by reporters from 'State-owned Assets Report,' CHN Energy has delivered an excellent report card.
